Picked by you: M&M’s launch new color mix selected by Facebook fans
For the first time in its 70 year history, M&M’s has unveiled a new selection of colors chosen by members of the public. The new limited edition 8-oz. mix of M&M’s Milk Chocolate and Peanut pouches will hit stores later in December, featuring a never-before-seen blend of colors selected exclusively by fans, said Mars Chocolate North America.
Through its M&M’s brand Facebook page, Mars asked more than 2.5 million of its most loyal fans to help decide on a new combination of chocolate shell colors that will now be featured together in their packages for a limited time.
When the voting was done, the winning colors were found to include three existing fan favorites in blue, red and green, in addition to three new colors in the form of purple, aqua and dark pink.
“M&M’s fans have always been very passionate about the colors of our delicious chocolate candies,” said Roy Benin, chief consumer officer for Mars Chocolate North America.
Benin added that the company had decided that the fact that 2012 is an election year means it is “the perfect opportunity to allow our fans to express their opinions about their favorite colors, and we are excited to create this new M&M’S color mix based on their response”.
The new M&M’s color mix will be available in select stores later in December and throughout the USA in the new year.
