Unilever, the makers of Magnum ice cream, has announced it is the first national ice cream brand in the US to launch an ice cream featuring the new chocolate variant, Ruby.

The new Magnum Ruby Minis sees the ice cream paired with ruby cacao, developed by Barry Callebaut, which expresses ‘a unique berry fruitiness, luscious smoothness, and unique pink color’.

Available from select retailers now and grocery stores nationwide starting from February, Magnum Ruby Minis are available in packs of six bars for a suggested retail price of $4.99.

Ruby cacao is the fourth and newest chocolate variant, following milk, dark, and white chocolate and discovered in 2017, becoming the first new chocolate in 80 years.

"As the chocolatiers of ice cream, we're uniquely positioned to launch the first ice cream featuring this new chocolate variant, Ruby," said Leslie Miller, director of marketing, Ice Cream North America. "We're excited to give Magnum ice cream fans another decadent ice cream and cacao pairing, creating the ultimate indulgence moment."
