You will receive early and complete training in story structure and style, and quickly be given the chance to initiate your own news stories and interviews.
However, you will already be able to show that you are a strong writer and that you work well under pressure, and, preferably, you will have already had some journalistic experience. Academically, and possibly in terms of your subsequent job experience, you will have a food technology, biology or medical background.
You should have a keen interest in science-based news and a commitment to providing the kind of key information that aids the best possible business decisions. Specifically, you will believe that consumers' concerns, technical capabilities and nutritional breakthroughs are all vital to food industry planners.
You will have a creative, positive and innovative outlook, a rampant curiosity and a desire to get to the heart of every subject you cover.
