Tunnock’s goes east

Scottish confectioner Tunnock’s is looking to export its traditional sweet treats to Russia.

The Uddingston-based company believes that its famed teacakes and caramel wafers could prove a hit with the Russians, who are amongst the world’s largest chocolate consumers.

Overseas sales manager Alan Burnett said, “The Russian confectionery market is one of the biggest in the world so there is real potential there.”

He said that although the company had approached several manufacturers and distributors, no commitments had yet been made.

Tunnock’s already exports its products to more than 30 countries.
