The commitment triples volumes of Fairtrade cocoa from Ghana to 15,000 tonnes and brings Fairtrade into millions more homes for the first time, said Cadbury.
The new Fairtrade bar has rolled off the production line and is due in shops within days, and will soon be available in 30,000 outlets. It is being offered at no extra cost, and Cadbury says the bar has the same taste as the original.
Harriet Lamb, executive director of the Fairtrade Foundation, said, “Cadbury Dairy Milk will create a step change in awareness of Fairtrade here in the UK, whilst in Ghana, it could potentially transform the lives and opportunities for thousands of people in cocoa growing communities.”
