With an output of 1,400 products per minute, the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is said to balance out product flow irregularities, create defined spaces and synchronize product and film speeds.
Horizontal flow wrapper
“As a result of its small deflection radius, the ITS can transfer products directly to the packaging material of the horizontal flow wrapper,” according to a company statement. “New formats can be introduced at the push of a button and without changeover time.”
The mechatronic infeed unit is powered by linear motors, in which over 30 rotors are moved independently and wear-free. A programmable logic controller (PLC) monitors and permanently regulates each rotor.
The ITS uses an ethernet-based, real-time bus system which allows it to reach speeds of over three meters per second. A multi-positional detection system is said to ensure that the exact position of each rotor can be determined at all times – meaning that a reference run is not needed.
Its modular design is claimed to allow easy integration into Bosch packaging lines and offers a wide range of applications.
Ultrasonic sealing
The ITS will be launched at the Interpack 2011 trade event which takes place in Dusseldorf , Germany between May 12-18th. Bosch will showcase the ITS at the show with the Sigpack HCUR horizontal flow wrapper with ultrasonic sealing and with the Miniwrap BVK 2000, a horizontal flow wrapper for small-sized products.
On both lines, the ITS will provide the individual product infeed to the packaging machine.
