Deo Perfume Candy enters Europe

Body fragrance candy has hit stores shelves in Europe after DG Imports reached an exclusive sales and distribution deal with Deo Perfume Candy over the Christmas period.

Deo Perfume Candy, co-developed by US ingredients company Beneo and Bulgarian confectionery firm Alpi, releases a rose scent through the skin once consumed.

Smell like roses

The product, manufactured in Bulgaria by Alpi, was launched in the US late last year and is now set for Europe.

Guy Marlow, marketing director for DG Imports told ConfectioneryNews.com: “We have already started selling to retailers and beauty-up.fr is the first in France to stock DEO Perfume Candy, we also have a fitness centre in Italy stocking the product.

“We are in talks with high street stores in the UK and have a company working on our behalf in France also talking with major retailers.”

He said that DG Imports had a three tiered model for the product including online sales, small retailers and wholesalers.

DG Imports has rights to DEO Perfume Candy in  all EU countries except Spain, Latvia and Lithuania, where exclusive rights have been given to local companies.

Deo Perfume Candy contains geraniol, a natural component of rose oil that evaporates through the skin. One serving size (four pieces) generates a fragrance effect lasting six hours depending upon body weight.

US sales progression

Asked how US sales had been progressing, Marlow said: “Although no data is available currently, we can say that sales have been going extremely well according to Ecodeum LLC who own the rights to the US market.

“Since late October the product sales have really picked up in line with the mass media attention DEO Perfume candy has received, to the extent that stock rang out for the US market and had to be replenished,” he continued.
