County Confectionery outlines growth plans

UK-based firm Country Confectionery plans to double sales and production volumes in 2013 after reaching a deal to extend its factory.

The company recently secured an HSBC financing package to add a second fudge production line to keep up with consumer demand.

Its plant  in St Ivves will now host a further 26 employees on top of the 56 currently employed.

The company, which produces private label and its own Copperpot Originals branded fudge and chocolate, said the expansion would  help it grow exports to around a quarter of turnover, up from 16% presently.

It currently sells products into Canada, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East.

Company operations director Chris Brian said: “Our growth is being constrained not by  a  lack  of  demand  but  by our capacity to produce our products. This second  fudge  production line will significantly improve our manufacturing capacity and enable us to sell more product both at home and abroad.”
