Lindt invests €70m in French plant expansion

Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Sprüngli will invest €70m ($90m) to expand its factory in the South of France to up its capacity for premium tablet ranges.

Its site in Oloron Sainte-Marie (Pyrénées Atlantiques) will install new lines to produce premium chocolate tablets such as Excellence and Creation from bean to bar.

Lindt claims to be the market leader for chocolate tablets in France for its Excellence range.

Lindt France has around 1,200 employees, 600 of which work at the Oloron Sainte-Marie site. An additional 50 jobs will be created following the expansion, which will span across two years.

Around 40% of Lindt’s volumes at the factory are exported.
