Project 7 sugar-free gums available at CVS as retailer promotes healthier items

Gourmet gum brand Project 7 has launched two of its sugar-free gums into CVS across the US as the drug store chain looks to promote healthier products to its customers.

The brand's Birthday Cake and Coconut Lime gums are rolling out to CVS stores this week in 0.53 ounce re-sealable pouches containing 12 pieces. The pouches - which launched in Walgreens last month - are priced $1.19.

Partnering with CVS was 'no-brainer'

“We are beyond thrilled to be able to list CVS as one of our retail partners, which allows us to offer more convenient locations for customers find our products,” said Project 7 CEO Tyler Merrick. “CVS is recognized as one of the top two drugstore chains in the nation so naturally this decision was a no-brainer.”

CVS has been monitoring Project 7’s products since first meeting the gum company, added Merrick, while Project 7 had kept CVS in the loop on the brand’s performance.

CVS promoting healthy products

CVS is promoting healthier options for consumers, Merrick said, since the retailer stopped selling tobacco products in 2014.

“I believe our sugar-free gum options fall in line with that vision as we provide consumers a fun and healthy alternative to high-calorie desserts," he added.

Project 7 last month launched its first organic, gourmet gummies in US Target stores. The new candies - which are non-GMO, gluten and preservative free and have no added artificial colors - are available in Birthday Cake flavor, Grapefruit Melon and Party Mix in two-ounce re-sealable pouches for $1.99 to $2.49.
