Goupie: ‘Salted confectionery still has a huge pull on the consumer’

Artisan confectionery brand Goupie has won a silver award for its Salted Sticky Toffee, in the Free-From category at the Food Talk Awards 2017.

“The reaction to our Goupie Mini launch this year, in particular to our brand new Salted Sticky Toffee flavor, has been phenomenal” said Grace Simpson, brand manager, Goupie.

“There is no doubt that salted confectionery still has a huge pull on the consumer, and the fact that it’s gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan friendly is the icing on the cake.”

The judges at the Food Talk Awards held at the Oxo Tower in London on June 12, look for companies who are pushing the boundaries and taking food tech forward.

The Free-From Pioneer Award asked for ‘a food or drink product from where traditional allergens or ingredients have been removed, but you’d never know it’. The gold winner for this category was B-Tempted Classic Flourless Brownie.

The other silver award winners were: MannaVida Gluten-Free Garlic & Rosemary Focaccia; Mr Organic Chocolate & Hazelnut Spread and Mash Direct Crispy Vegetable Bakes.

“We are delighted to have won Silver in this category” added Janet Simpson, co-founder, Goupie.

“We have always kept Goupie all about the taste, and so acknowledgment of this in a free-from category is really important to us.”
