A traditional vertical bagger is only able to seal the upper side of zippers, Bosch pointed out at the recent Pack Expo in Las Vegas. “We also have clean seals on the corner side of the doypack so it stands up nicely on shelves,” the company said.
The new continuous motion equipment, named 'SVE 3220 DZ vertical form, fill and seal,' was developed to help food producers to meet diverse food safety regulations, Bosch said in a statement.
Versatile with various bag types
“One of the most important features about the machine is versatility: It is able to produce a wide range of bag sizes and styles, including pillow bags, gusseted, block bottom bags, corner seal bags, in addition to [standup] zip bags,” Bosch said.
Many manufacturers usually buy a machine for one particular snack application. However, they might want the capability to deploy their assets for a different use in the future – “maybe they have a new customer, or they become a co-packer,” the company added.
Bosch also noted, compared to vertical machines, the horizontal version requires a very high capital investment, and it can only produce one bag style and size in high volume.
High efficiency
The SVE 3220 DZ is capable of handling standup zip formats up to 320 millimeters high and 250 millimeters wide, according to Bosch.
“The bagger components also employ color codes to make changeovers clear and reproducible, eliminating operator errors and contributing to a ‘total productive maintenance’ approach for maximized uptime,” the company said.
