The National Confectioners Association says it is continuing to strengthen its industry engagement, regulatory, communications and advocacy teams with a series of new personnel appointments.

Paige Smoyer becomes the NCA’s new manager of food safety & regulatory affairs. Smoyer has a B.S. in Food Science and a minor in International Agriculture from the Pennsylvania State University and will handle issues of food safety, allergens and other related issues.

Paige was previously in regulatory affairs for the North American Millers Association. And get this - she was an intern at NCA about four years ago!,” Christopher Gindlesperger, senior vice president of public affairs & communications, told ConfectioneryNews.

“We promoted Dan Shorts to director of government affairs – he was previously senior manager of government affairs. Dan is integral to our lobbying efforts. And we recently hired Lynn Wylie as senior director of industry affairs. Wylie’s role will focus on building relationships with retailers, wholesalers and distributors, and driving engagement and outreach within the industry.”

Gindlesperger also confirmed two more appointments to his public affairs and communications team: Amy Buglass becomes manager of web technology, and James Gleason the new content manager.

Buglass will manage the development of NCA’s web properties and email marketing, while Gleason will be responsible for creating a wide variety of communications, marketing and membership materials,” he said.
