Thanks to digitalisation, product information is taking a new stand, which is playing an increasingly bigger role at the point of sale.
Pacoon
ProSweets Cologne (February 2-5, 2020) in Germany, will focus on packaging challenges with the ‘Function meets Design’ event for daily seminars and German design agency for sustainable packing concepts, Pacoon, will host the Sustainable Packaging Brain Lab to make it easier for packing developers, buyers and marketing specialists to identify key aspects of sustainable packing and to promote them at the POS (Point Of Sale).
"We are delighted to be exhibiting at ProSweets Cologne again this year," said Peter Désilets, executive director, Pacooon.
"With our expertise we not only succeed in developing trends and the top theme sustainability when creating packing, but the right strategy for more recycling-friendly packing.
“We are demonstrating here that it is mostly simpler than one imagines and we support all of the respective players with their individual sustainability strategies."
On digitalisation, German packaging and marketing agency DeTeMa will present opportunities for the interaction between sales packing and smartphones under the theme Talking Packaging without bar codes or QR codes.
The digitalisation of packing with technologies capable of interacting that are based on digital codes have the potential to turn packing into multi-talents. Packing that can interact and provide the customer with further information about the products they are being is in demand.
Digimarc
One example is US company Digimarc, which invisibly encodes the GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) and URL on the image of a package which is invisible to the human eye similar to a watermark.
It means the GTIN accelerates the checkout process and enables a link to social media. The real and digital world merge at the point of sale by pointing the camera of a smartphone on the packaging. The recipe, nutrients or allergy warnings can be called up together with offers, prize draws or coupons.
In addition to diversified ingredients ProSweets will be presenting the latest developments in packing machines and materials including how complex production and packing processes can be optimised intelligently.
For example, Italian exhibitor, IMA, will be presenting the IMA GIMA FTO513, high-speed wrapping machine for one or several products; Bi-Ber visual product testing based on artificial intelligence (AI) will exhibit its CognexVisionProViDi software, which contains segmentation and error recognition and VEMAG will demonstrate exact shaping and accurate portioning of fine doughs.
- ProSweets Cologne 2020 will take place in Cologne from February 2-5, 2020 parallel to ISM, sweets and snacks tradefair.
