Because of the COVID 19 pandemic, organizers have reinvented Peru’s XI Cacao and Chocolate Salon as an innovative virtual platform that will bring together the country’s entire cacao and chocolate community for the first time online.
Through a platform that combines e-commerce with live broadcast conferences, chocodemos, guided tastings, business rounds and contests, the virtual trade fair will showcase Peruvian fine chocolate brands, cacao growers and their organizations from across producing regions of Peru.
More than 200 brands of chocolates, cacao, supplies and equipment will be on show from virtual booths that will cater to web-registered visitors.
New markets
Moreover, organizers say the new edition of its trade fair will make available a suite of digital tools for cacao and chocolate organizations, producers, and companies to reach new markets.
“Exhibitors from the different cacao and chocolate producing regions around the country will be able to change their virtual booth at any time. This facility is particularly useful for exhibitors lacking a website. It will also provide a great opportunity for small chocolate producers in remote areas of the country to take advantage of electronic commerce facilities including a virtual store,” a spokesperson for the event said.
Virtual conferences
Alongside the trade fair, a number of virtual conferences has been organized, focussing on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on global cocoa and chocolate demand and how the industry can respond.
After the trade fair finishes, the platform will remain enabled and feature permanent activities from July to December, to meet further requests from the public.
