Madagascar’s pioneering export chocolate brand, Chocolat Madagascar, has confirmed it is attending ISM in Cologne 2022 and is staying on trend for ‘Veganuary’.

New bars feature an alternative fine creamy milk and white alternative chocolate that has been specially developed using fresh cashew chocolate that is traceable from the island origin.

We have the advantage of freshly crafting the chocolate in Madagascar at the Chocolaterie in Antananarivo, making the Vegan milC & blanC where ‘C’ stands for the Cashew nuts. Creating a sustainable local and low food mile from farm to chocolate all in Madagascar,” a spokesperson for the brand said.

A consistent winner of international chocolate awards, the brand does not add any flavour enhancers such as vanilla.

"The pure roasted cashew nuts & fine cacao are freshly mixed and conched together creating a creamy, gentle flavours and smooth texture from Malagasy cashew nuts with hints of banana and red fruit flavours the fine cacao of Sambirano, Madagascar" sadi Hery Andriamampianina - Technical Director & Chocolatier. “Our fine flavour cacao has special flavours and we use much more cacao in our Vegan MilC and Vegan Blanc than the EU chocolate standards, and much less sugar.”

ISM/ProSweets 2022 to become a safe trade fair experience

Germany’s trade fair duo, ISM and ProSweets Cologne, is set to open this Sunday, 30 January, at Koelnmesse after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers Koelnmesse said the current Corona Protection Ordinance offers good framework conditions, which follow the 3G principle [where public spaces are only open to those that are vaccinated, recovered, or tested - geimpft, genesen, getestet], allows admission to both trade fairs.

As a further element of the concept, ISM and ProSweets Cologne are offering exhibiting companies, visitors, service providers and the media exclusive digital tickets.

A spokesperson for Koelnmesse said: “Admission to the fairgrounds occurs following the ‘CH3CK’ principle, our trusted admission system that unites the 3G proof with the digital ticket in a practical way per app, thus enabling a smooth entry process to the grounds.

It is compulsory to wear a face mask on the entire fair grounds, while engaging in consultations at the exhibition stand, in the queues at the grounds and in the outdoor areas. The face mask can be taken off when sampling products and when seated in the food service areas.”

As one of the leading international events for the sweets and snacks industry, both trade fairs are normally must-attend dates, because the entire value chain - from the current trends and product innovations through to packaging solutions, production technologies and the latest ingredients and raw materials – are showcased.

"Both trade fairs live from the diversity. The high interest from a number of national and international companies for both trade fairs makes us optimistic that the re-start will be a success for us. The face-to-face contact is of course the core element of every trade fair. So that ISM and ProSweets Cologne are a successful and safe trade fair experience for all trade fair participants, we have taken all conceivable parameters and measures into account in the scope of our safety and hygiene concept,” said Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse GmbH.

  • ISM/ProSweets 2022 is being staged from 30 January to 2 February 2022 at the Koelnmesse exhibition halls and are exclusively open to the international trade audience.
