The nu company is supporting the green initiative with ‘nucao’, a plant-based chocolate bar on a climate-positive mission.

For every nucao bar sold or sampled, the nu company says it will plant a new tree –  and claims it has already planted over 10 million trees to date.

Working in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects, nu says it plans to plant one billion trees by 2030.

Eden works with local communities in various countries to plant forests on a large scale, creating local jobs and protecting ecosystems. In working with the organisation, the nu company says it makes a contribution to mitigating climate change.

Co-founder Christian Fenner said: “The nu company is the social food brand from Germany that is transforming the way people eat and bringing sustainable change to the food industry. Every element in our sourcing and production process has been carefully considered to make it as environmentally-conscious as we possibly can. We want the whole world to know that climate-positive snacking is the way forward.”

Using only responsibly-sourced ingredients, nucao is made from organic chocolate with hemp seeds and roasted hazelnuts and is 100% organic, vegan and natural.

The bar is available in the health food aisle at Sainsbury’s and in Holland & Barrett, Abel & Cole and Planet Organic, as well as online at the-nu-company.co.uk.
