M&M’s Coffee Nut has won a public vote to be the brand’s next nut variety and will roll out at retailers across the US next month.

Mars introduced three limited-edition flavors: Honey Nut, Coffee Nut and Chili Nut, earlier this year and asked consumers to pick their favorite by voting online or by SMS.

Coffee Nut was yesterday declared the winner after more than a million consumers cast their vote. It will now enjoy continued distribution across America.

Consumers entering the contest had the chance to win $100,000 and to be recognized as an official M&M'S Taste Tester. Jason Y. from Raleigh, North Carolina, was this year’s winner.

The public vote marked the 75th anniversary of the M&M’s brand.

In 2014, Mars reintroduced M&M's Crispy after calls on social media to bring back the product last on sale 10 years earlier.
